WONDERS OF THE WORLD

Wed Jan 31, 2007 @ 02:08PM

Thought it would be fun to: A) count the "wonders" Matt has/will see, plus B) offer an educational exercise - (it will help give Matt's site even more class)!

A) By perusing Matt's other travels, he has already seen: 1)MT. FUJI in Japan, and more recently 2)THE GRAND CANYON in Arizona, U.S., and now 3)THE PANAMA CANAL in Panama. There may be others.

B) Can anyone name (or make up) what the original Wonders of the Ancient World are?

Great topic. Actually, when I started seriously thinking about this little adventure, I needed to figure out what to see. Where do you start? Where do you go first? I too had the "Wonders of the World" in my head. I'd never thought about them much - i didn't even know what the original 7 were. I just remember King Kong was supposed to be the 8th.

Anyway, i did some reasearch about a year and a half ago. There's no "official" list anymore. Groups all over the world have thier own opinions, and it's tough to decide which one I agree with most. To bypass that, I've included some links, and some of the most-agreed upon lists I found. And I say "lists" because now people have divided them up into "modern", "natural", "forgotten", etc.

When I actually took a look at the list - I realized i haven't seen much of the world. It was yet another motivator for the trip.

Let me know what you think...

Eric, you couldn´t be more right. Just had another one... Involving a white-knuckle bus ride through the mountains of Peru, sharing a plate of pasta with a Missionary-turned RN from Costa Rica, and a stomach churning flight over the Nazca Lines. More to come soon.
