To get away from one's working environment is, in a sense, to get away from one's self; and this is often the chief advantage of travel and change.
~ Charles Horton Cooley

New Zealand is a place unlike any other. This little country has absolutely everything. Beaches, mountains, lakes, glaciers, sweeping plains, volcanoes, sheep, hobbits... You can see it all here.

Below are some of my favorite scenes so far. I won't waste a lot of words - they are far too small to describe what I've seen.

Christchurch: Punting on the Avon River

Greymouth: Tasman Sea

Near Franz Josef: Rusted tractor

Matheson Lake: Fern Fronds

Wanaka: Lake Wanaka

Queenstown: AJ Hackett's Bungy

Queenstown: Lake Wakatipu

Queenstown: Divers

Moeraki: Moeraki Boulder

Moeraki: Moeraki Boulders

Lake Pukaki: View of Mt. Cook

Lake Tekapo: Church of the Good Shepherd

Kaikoura: White Anchor

Amazing. Of all your travels Matt, New Zealand was the one I knew I'd envy most. You've proved me right. I'm so glad your final stop on the journey is such a beautiful one!

Wow. Gorgeous. These remind me a bit of all the HD channels we check out to marvel at how amazing a TV picture can be (Discovery, Travel Channel, History Channel) -- only far better.

Incredible! Always wondered what New Zealand looked like. You've been very foturnate to see so much of the world in a year. It will be quite an adjustment to ease back into the rat-race that exists over here. You now understand what I mean by that comment.

Stay clear of the rat race and those filthy creatures. They, I mean their fleas carry the plague, and their screeching is horrible.

I've hooked Matt up as the new travel editor of NG Adventure Magazine. I think it's now clear what he's best at. Matt, the rat race is not for you. Safe travels.

Matt, those pictures are simply amazing! You've done an amazing job with your blog and giving us all ideas of where we want to visit. I agree - stay away from the rat race, I don't miss it one bit! God Bless and Merry Christmas my friend.
